• Three of the best houseplants for this time of year

If your home is looking a bit life-less and in need of a lift and you’d like some new houseplants, then here are three of the best to go for at this time of year:

Azaleas will last for weeks if they are kept in a cool position, out of direct sunlight. The secret to their success is to keep the compost moist but not overwatered.

    Phalaenopsis (Moth Orchid)

Phalaenopsis orchids are easy to grow – put them in a light room and water them sparingly once a week and they can flower for months. These beautiful British-grown orchids are the epitome of understated elegance.

The unsung heroes of winter, vibrant and sweetly scented cyclamen are ideal plants for bringing plenty of colour into the house. For best results, place in a well-lit position and keep the compost damp to the touch.
