• Missed out on your spring clean this year? Go for an autumn one instead

If you missed your chance to spring clean your home, then here are our top tips for giving it an autumn spruce-up instead, getting you ahead for spring 2021!

    • Write a list of jobs first, prioritise and give yourself time to complete the list
    • Get all your equipment together and the products you’ll need before you begin
    • Complete one room at a time
    • Tackle all the bigger jobs first, such as washing bedding and mattress toppings
    • If care labels say you can, then you could also wash pillows and duvets
    • Wash or dry clean your curtains and clean the inside of your windows
    • Sort out anything that needs to go into storage
    • Repair items that need repairing and spruce-up tired furniture and rooms with a lick of paint
    • Remember that the outside of your home will need some TLC too
    • Wash windows and woodwork, wipe down front doors and any door furniture, check pots and any plants - give everything a wash, tidy, brush-up and sort out for the winter period, as when spring 2021 comes around, it’ll be much easier to get everything in good order in readiness for sitting outside again
    • If you think you’ll need some new pots, plants, garden furniture and ornaments to give your outside area a mini makeover in the spring, then create a list and start planning now. For early spring colour, bulbs like daffodils and tulips need to be planted this autumn. Visit your nearest garden centre for some expert advice on what to plant when, as this time of year can be great for planting, while the soil is still warm, if you’re planning a complete flower bed or border makeover.
