• How to create a party on your patio

Our experts offer their tips on choosing garden furniture and creating the perfect patio for extending your outdoor living for as long as the milder weather lasts. Fingers crossed we’ll be able to go through to October!

    • Be sure to choose furniture that suits your outdoor space. Think about the size of your patio, decking or balcony and whether your furniture needs to be stored inside or outside when the winter sets in.
    • Flexibility is vital too – if, in the future, you move home, you’ll want to think about how you can extend your furniture, or match it with other items, should you move to a home with a bigger outdoor space.
    • Good quality outdoor furniture can be an investment and you want it to last, so it’s important to go for weather resistant items and to use covers to protect it too.
    • Blue, of all shades, is the colour of the season for outdoor homewares, so if you want to be bang on trend opt for blue toned cushions and accessories.
    • A vivid colour scheme for accessories can quickly update your outside look – feature your chosen hue in candle holders, table wares and cushions.
    • Use various different types of lighting to extend the time you’re able to stay out in your al fresco space – for example, get some solar lights, as well as candles, and remember to select some candles that repel insects.
    • If you have the space, get a firepit, or similar, to help heat the area, so you can extend the time you’re able to sit outside for as long as possible.
    • Don’t forget to invest in good throws and blankets, so even if the evenings turn chilly, wrapping up warm will mean you can stay out for longer.
