2020 looks set to be dominated by all things Japanese as significant world sporting events are hosted in the country including the Olympics.
This fascination with Japan will overspill into homewares too and we’ve added a cabinet in two colourways – black and brown – to our range to help embrace the forthcoming trend.
These handmade items of furniture have been created from mango wood, MDF and cane and are perfect for storing towels, linen or for using as a bedside or side table.
As well as having a Japan vibe to them, they also have a retro quality, reminiscent of an old wireless radio.
The mango wood used for the cabinet comes from plantations and not from public woods.
Once a mango tree stops producing fruits, a farmer cuts down the trees in order to replace with new ones. The wood is then sold at auction and is often bought by sawmill owners who cut it and resell it to factories.
The woven detail on the front of the cabinet is done by hand by skilled craftsmen. Each strip of cane is carefully selected for each cabinet.
The cabinets are £295 each and are L45cm x W32cm x H61cm
